Often styled 'Newark Parish Church', St Mary Magdalene may be better understood as a choral church, which (like Minsters and Cathedrals) has an important Civic role within the town. These services are well attended, and the historic grandeur of the building also makes it somewhat of a visitor attraction.

The Church is presently open from 8.30am to 3:30pm Monday to Saturday and for entry to services, though it is closed at lunch time.

This website contains information about the flourishing Choir, which has been sustained for almost 500 years by the generosity of the Magnus Charity. Sunday Choral Evensong is the highpoint of the week, and you would be most welcome to attend.
